Cupcake Wars

AP World History classes held their annual Cupcake Wars, a project modeled after the show of the same name.

“I’ve done this for probably six or seven years,” Mrs. Rosanne Lopez said. “I wanted to incorporate it into learning by doing something different than just writing it down.”

The students were divided into groups, and each group was assigned one of six ancient civilizations to represent in their display: China, Persia, India, Rome, Greece, and the Mayan Empire.

“We made our display look like remnants of the Coliseum for Rome,” sophomore Robert Leal said.

Each group’s display had to represent their respective civilization. Groups constructed famous monuments out of cupcakes, and made cupcakes look like important goods from the country.

“It’s hard to make the display and keep it intact,” sophomore Michael Polanco said.

The students’ displays took effort and planning skills to make sure everybody did their part.

“It turned out fun to work together on it.” Polanco said.

Students in AP World History created a cupcake model based upon one of their civilizations.
