As the spring tennis season is coming to an end, players are working hard to prepare for district.

“I’m excited for district,” senior Scarlett Smith said. “I’m really happy with my mixed doubles partner and that all four seniors get to play together.”

All seniors make up the varsity mixed-doubles team, and with graduation around the corner this will be their last season.

“I’m sad that my last tennis season is almost over,” senior Rafael Rios said. “I’m also happy though because we play so well with one another and have come a long way.”

After district, qualifying players will advance to regionals.

“After making it to regionals last year, I feel like I’ve gained lots of experience to prepare me for this year,” sophomore Brooke Runyan said. “Hopefully this year I will advance to the state meet.”

Preparation for Fall Tennis will begin after state for the 2019 season.

“Fall Tennis is my only chance to play doubles,” Runyan said. “I’m looking forward to the upcoming season.”

District was held on April 1-2, and results were not available at press time.
