Middle school baseball, softball

This year Devine Middle School Athletics will add two new sports to their program. For the first time ever, Devine Middle School will have their very own softball and baseball team.

“We were originally going to have softball and baseball added to the middle school sports program last year,” athletic director Coach Quisenberry said. “We had it all set up, but unfortunately COVID hit and we were not able to have the season.”

There is one boys baseball team and one girls softball team. Practices are held at the Devine baseball and softball fields, as well as their games. The varsity baseball and softball coaches help out with coaching and their practices.

“This is a great opportunity for the kids and give them something to participate in during the last two months of school,” Quisenberry said. “It is also a good opportunity for the coaches to work with the younger kids.”

Both teams will have their first game on Wednesday, April 7 against Lytle. The boys will play in Devine at 6pm and the girls will play in Lytle at 6pm.

“Although there is only one team for baseball and softball, we hope to have both A and B teams next year for the kids,” Quisenberry said.
