The Warhorses and Arabians are jumping into playoffs for basketball. As they play their last few district games, the players and coaches prepare themselves for the heart racing playoff games and loud fans. The Arabians ended district as co-champions
and tied with the Somerset Bulldogs.

“Although there was not a lot of competition in district, Somerset did give us the playoff game setting and the competitiveness,” junior Kendall Marek said. “In the playoffs, we need to keep lots of positivity, keep a fresh mind, and play as a team. By doing this I think we will make a good run in the playoffs.”

The Arabians finished district with one loss. Thursday Feb. 11 the Arabians will either face Uvalde or Carrizo Springs.

“I am excited to see what teams we are going to face and I’m ready for all the playoff energy each game brings,” junior Lacey Shook said. “The playoff atmosphere is like nothing else. We all need to put 100% into every practice and always be hungry to get better.”

The Warhorses will play their last district game on Friday against Fox Tech. After this game they will start focusing on how they will prepare for the playoffs.

“I feel like if we continue working hard in practice, it will give us game-like looks and translate on to the court,” senior Matthew Madrid said. “We have had some rough games, but after district is done we need to put it behind us and focus on getting better and go a few rounds deep in the playoffs.”
