Athletes get into track shape early

It’s the time of year again when the track stars of Devine are preparing for their long season of hard work and success. The track participants have been putting time in on the track and in the weight room.

“I work hard because I want to be the best that I can be, and I want to win,” junior Jack Zimmerle said.

Practices started right after Thanksgiving break and will continue until the beginning of the track season. Every day after school the track girls and boys go to the weight room and push themselves to the limit, just so they can excel in the sport they love.

“I push myself everyday in practice so I can reach my ultimate goal of going to regionals,” junior Caroline Anderson said.

Last year, track broke multiple records and even made an appearance at state. This year they plan to do just as well or better. By starting practices earlier in the year athletes get a head start to all the good things track has in store.

“Most of the motivation I have comes from wanting to be good and simply wanting to win even though it may be challenging,” senior Kara Stacy said.
