Warhorse band members advance to state

Devine Warhorse band competed in Region 11 UIL Solo and Ensemble contest allowing many students to advance to the state competition. This includes: freshman Mason Honig, junior James Pedroza, freshman Abram Hernandez, junior Paula Salmeron, senior Andrew Duffer, and senior Karina Gonzalez.

Honig played Solo Timpani and received  first division. Pedroza played Solo Alto Saxophone and also got first division.

“I feel really good about the competitions,” Honig said.  “Next year I plan on playing a more difficult piece of music so I can go to state.”

Salmeron, Hernandez, and Duffer played in a Clarinet Trio Class One and received first division.  Gonzalez played Solo Alto Saxophone, Class One and got first division as well. All of these students are going to be advancing to State UIL Solo and Ensemble.

“We are all good clarinet players so it just kind of went together really well,” Salmeron said. “I am really excited to be advancing with my trio to state.”
