Things got spooky at the Hybrid School of Wrestling during their annual Ring of Horrors show this past October.
Celebrating its fifth year, Ring of Horrors V once again transformed the Hybrid School of Wrestling into a Halloween spectacle as fans filed in wearing creative Halloween costumes, ready for a night of spooktacular professional wrestling. Some fans even went as far as to compete in the Halloween costume contest. I entered but did not win. But that does not matter, as I will recall all of the true winners (and losers) from this year’s show.
Sin Limite, the team of Animo and Zorro De Jalisco, opened up the show going up against the Pretty Badass Riot Party, made up of Ryloh King and Armani Sage. The luchador team of Animo and Zorro were hitting flips and flying, but the Pretty Badass Riot Party stopped their momentum and proved why they are the United 210 Tag Team Champions.
Chase Owens made his way to the ring with the Hybrid Rising Star Championship in hand. To recap from the Hybrid show the month prior, he dastardly stole that championship from Jesse Funkai, he is not the champion. Owens made his way to the ring, grabbed the mic, and immediately complained that Jesse wasn’t there for the match. Then, out of nowhere, Funkai’s music blasted, and he wasted no time as he charged straight into the ring. Clothespins, a ladder, and even a grabber tool were used as weapons in this wild match. At the end, it was Funaki who was victorious. Funkai’s hand was raised in victory as he reclaimed his Hybrid Rising Star Championship.
After the mess from the prior match was cleaned up, out came “Born Rotten” David Teen. He ran his mouth about how he wanted an opponent, and that is what he got. Out came the “Heavy Hitter” Hitt. As Hitt made his way to the ring, Teen looked like he had just seen a ghost. Frozen by fear, Teen got hit, no pun intended, and quickly lost the match to Hitt.
Heading into the next match, none of us had a clue what to expect. The slated match card called for Freakshow to take on a mystery opponent. Everyone was on the edge of their seats waiting to see who would appear. The mystery opponent turned out to be a complete surprise! Out from the curtain emerged Lilith, the manager to the man known as Alexander Crowley. We haven’t seen him since he left his boots in the ring back in March of this year. Crowley made his triumphant return and won his match against the joker of Dead Man’s Hand.
The following match had an actual family as one of the teams. The Galvans: Ben Jr., Chaos, and Josh, faced off against the Texas Kingdom, Rob Love and Studstache, along with newcomer Kris Barton. As expected, the Galvans worked well together and put up a huge fight against the Kingdom and Barton. In the end, family truly is forever, as the Galvans scored the victory. But chaos continued. After the match, the Kingdom left, leaving Barton by himself, and still in the ring. The Galvans actually went and helped Barton up. Afterwards, Rob had a stern talk with Barton, as he did not appreciate his friendship with their team’s enemies. Moving forward, we might just see a Rob Love versus Kris Barton match– who knows!
The second-to-last match of the night was a championship showdown. The “Modern Day Backbreaker” Casey Blackrose was set to defend his Hybrid School of Wrestling Championship against the “Certified Stunna” Jayden Valentino. The match kicked off with intensity as Valentino brought the fight to the champion. Blackrose brang intense backbreakers, Valentino brang hair wips and charisma, but in the end, Casey Blackrose successfully retained his championship title.
It was finally time for the main event, the Hybrid School of Wrestling Tag Team Championship match. It was the champions, the Texas Treats, putting their title on the line against the Dead Man’s Hand and Living in Fashion. As always, The Texas Treats came into the match with high levels of confidence, flaunting how they are “de bessst” and would retain their championship titles. But Dead Man’s Hand and Living In Fashion were not about to go down without fighting; that was clear the entire match. With all of the three-way chaos unfolding in the ring, Living In Fashion managed to sneak in and steal the victory, becoming the NEW Hybrid School of Wrestling Tag Team Champions! This championship is not the first for Devin Carter and Zakai Living, meaning that they are now two-time Tag Team Champions. A huge congratulations to Living in Fashion!
