Students participated in a blood drive this past week. The high school holds 3-4 blood drives every year and this was the first one of this school year.

“We started doing blood drives because the need for blood was so great,” Mrs. Jana Dudley said. “The students are the best source within the community that we have.”

The blood students give goes to local hospitals to help others in need of it.

“This is my first time giving blood and I’m a little nervous but that’s okay because I know it’s for a good cause, “junior Taylor Carr said.

The school has held these blood drives for a long time now. Students that plan to pursue a career in the medical field like giving because it will give them an insight on how donations help saves lives.

“I decided to give blood so that I could save a life before I go into the medical field,” junior Jaylyn Stewart.

Some students get a little nervous before they give blood, but think it is a great way to contribute to people in need.

“I feel like there are so many people out there that need blood and those are loved ones from other people,” senior Hannah Casas said. “I want to give to others so that maybe someone would help me if I needed it.”
