Warhorse basketball went 2-2 at the Pleasanton tournament hosted last Thursday and Friday, playing teams from Stockdale, George West, Pleasanton and Lytle.

“The first day we had easy wins,” junior Leonard Pompa said. “We played George West early Thursday morning, and Stockdale in the afternoon.”

Lytle beat the Horses at noon on Friday with a resulting score of 75-69.

“We didn’t execute enough and our shots weren’t falling,” senior William Medrano said. “We were also intimidated by their six foot five power forward.”

In the final game of the tournament, the Warhorses lost to Pleasanton.

“After losing, we just have to focus on the positives,” senior Brady Cardenas said. “It’s a long season and we’ll get to where we need to be.”

The Warhorses played Bandera on Dec. 18, and will play Dilley on Dec. 21.

“The thing holding us back from being a great team is that we don’t play as a team a lot of the time,” Cardenas said. “If we minimize our mistakes, relax and play together, we’ll begin to accomplish great things.”
