District track a good race

The athletes hard work paid off at this year’s district track meet on April 13 and 14 in Fredericksburg. The runners, throwers, and jumpers did their job and represented Devine well.

“The track meet went pretty good overall. The girls got third as a team, and the boys got first as a team. We are planning to do well next year also,” sophomore Abigail Whitaker said.

Not only did the athletes advance individually, but also as groups. The boy’s 4X1 advanced to the area meet, along with the girl’s 4X1 and 4X2.

“It feels good to be able to represent Devine and make it past the district level. I have worked hard to be in this position and I plan to make the best of it,” sophomore Sydney Rendon said.

Devine track will host the Area meet in Devine at the Warhorse stadium on Thursday, April 20.
