Arabians pluck rival Hondo Owls

With another win under their belts, the Arabians are one game closer to finding out who will take first in the new district. Their 3-1 victory over the Hondo Owls on Fri. Oct. 3 has most definitely pushed the girls closer.

“We had worked really hard that week to prepare physically and mentally on and off the court to achieve a great win against Hondo, and in the end we wanted it more than them,” senior Katelynn Riggs said.

Hard work and dedication are only a few of the things that get these ladies through a tough game.

“When the going gets tough we just have to take a deep breath,” senior Alyssa Schmidt said. “We have to try and shake off the bad and capitalize on the good.”

Good things have come from their teamwork, like the Jourdanton tournament victory. Winning that put them in a good position for the start of the season, and gave them the inspiration to work harder in all of their games.

“We are going to do our best and just try and stay confident no matter the outcome,” Schmidt said. “We have worked hard to get here so we are just going to trust ourselves and our teammates for our upcoming games.”
