A sinking ship means the end of a battle, but not one you’d expect to find at Warhorse Stadium. The boys were successful in their homecoming match up against the Lytle Pirates, winning 30-14. By preparing all week, the Horses set themselves up for the victory they achieved Friday night, Oct. 3.

“This game was a clash of two of the best teams in our district,” senior Jonathon Camacho said. “As it began we knew they weren’t just going to give us the game, so we had to fight for every yard and on the defensive side we shut them down.”

While the boys had a slightly rough start, they reared up and buckled down to ultimately get the win.

“We weren’t doing as well at first as a team because we were playing individually,” senior Roberto Guzman said. “Towards the second quarter we came together to play some real Warhorse football, and we were successful.”

The Horses will travel to Crystal City Friday night, Oct. 10 to face off against the Javelinas.

“We’re going to go out there with the right attitude and play the best we can as a team,” Camacho said. “We win no matter what if we stick together.”
