Softball claims Area Championship title

Hard work and dedication from the varsity Arabians led them to not only their district championship but all the way to their Area championship. All that hard work paid off for senior Casey Montalvo, who pitched an unusual 11 inning game last Friday night for the win.
“That game was the best game all of us have ever played because we never gave up and we continued to fight,” Montalvo said. “Pitching those 11 innings was tough but I just felt like I had to help out the defense as much as they helped me.”
The Arabians are proud of their recent accomplishments but it all started when they were district champions.
“We met our short term goal of going 10-0 in district which is great, but now we have to play our hardest every game and get better every day to get where we really want to go,” sophomore Kailee Ramirez said.
The Arabians played a three game series against the Robstown Lady Cottonpickers and won it in two games.
“I feel like we’ve had a very successful season so far, we’ve improved in all areas and made ourselves better for playoffs,” senior Jordan Alvarez said.
The area champions won their most recent title against the Lyford Lady Bulldogs in two games. It was a tough battle, but the ladies pulled through and are set to play the Orange Grove Lady Bulldogs in Alice this Fri. May 9, at 7:00 pm and game two and three(if necessary) on Sat. May 10, time and place to be determined.
