Baseball, softball teams prep for respective seasons

Swinging off to a great start is something the Arabian and Warhorse softball and baseball teams are used to. Though the season has not started yet, the teams are lining up behind the plate to make this season the best yet.

For both teams, especially the Arabians, success has been a pretty constant figure. Overcoming the glory of past seasons, most will claim, is half the battle.

“We all have high expectations because of past years,” junior Shelby Carrillo said. “We’re setting high goals and striving for a successful season.”

An interesting fact about both teams is they have a large amount of returning members. Both the players and the coaches are pleased, and expect this to be an advantage this season.

“My expectations are always high, but this year the difference is that there are a lot more returning guys,” coach George Villa said.

For the players, returning to the field means improving as a team as well as an individual.

“Having the same people on the team as the previous year is a huge advantage for all of us because we are looking to do even better than we did last year,” senior Casey Montalvo said.

Whether they be pre-season games or district ones, one thing does not change: the Warhorse and Arabians are expected to hold up the tradition of excellence on their respective fields.

“I always expect the most of out my team,” Villa said. “My expectations are especially high this year, and I’m expecting the district champion title.”
