Warhorses end pre-season 2-3, looking forward to district

A loss in the last minute of the game is a tough pill to swallow, especially for the Warhorses last week. The boys were defeated by the Luling Eagles Friday night, losing 33-26.

With a close defeat comes plenty of disappointment. However, the Warhorses are looking towards the brighter side of things, considering the loss a wake-up call.

“Even though we lost, we are not going to hang our heads. We’re just going to learn and improve,” senior Eric Trogden said.

The unexpected loss stands in stark contrast to the Warhorses’ victory against the Sam Houston Hurricanes two Saturday’s ago. The boys snatched the win with a final score of 35-21.

“We had a good game. Our defense really stepped it up for this game, but our offense was key. Both sides of the ball played aggressively, and it worked out for us,” junior Roberto Guzman said.

The boys brought both their defense and offense in their battle against the Antonian Apaches last Friday night. Unfortunately, it was not enough to lead the Horses to victory, and they lost 48-26.

This week the Warhorses will take advantage of their bi-week and hit the practice field in hopes of dominating in district. The Horses will open their district season against the Crystal City Javelinas in Crystal City next Friday.
