I don’t really have a favorite when it comes to certain genre of music, but I do prefer older country (like 80’s and 90’s). My reasoning for that is usually because I live on a farm, but really, it is all about quality music. Well, in my opinion.

One day I was listening to Spotify, and it started playing some random playlist which featured some music I had never heard before, but it wasn’t bad so I kept it on. After listening for a while, a song caught my attention.

The song was “Chain of Love” by Clay Walker from the 90’s. If you ever get the chance, I encourage you to listen to it. It is a sweet song that talks about people helping people without expecting anything in return. The person who first helped said, “You don’t owe me a thing, just don’t let the chain of love end with you.” Like wow. I really started to think about what he was saying.

Today, we see what is called “paying it forward,” a lot of the time at Starbucks, where people will buy the person’s order behind them. There are other examples, but that is what comes to mind. The idea is fantastic, don’t get me wrong, but I think as a society we could be doing more, myself included.

In the song, simple gestures like helping change a tire and leaving someone a nice tip were the actions of love. I feel like if everyone made an effort to spread a little more love, it could change the world around for the better.

Something that also ties to this is a message from church a couple weeks ago. It was discussed how when we wake up, we should think of how we can serve others instead of thinking about ourselves first thing. It is a simple message, but also has a strong impact.

Creating a chain of love starts with changing your mind-set and having thoughtful actions. Our world moves at such a fast pace, I think we forget about helping others instead of just ourselves. This is something myself and others should start to think about and change the way we live.

The greatest thing is, when we start putting others before ourselves, we end up feeling so much better and lead happier lives. If that is not motivation, then I don’t know what is.

I am working on my part and others should too. That way the chain of love doesn’t end with us.
