FCCLA to state

Pack your bags because FCCLA is headed all the way to state. This huge event is held in Dallas on April 7-9. Students all over the state of Texas attend this meet, and we are proud to say that we have some of our own competing and representing DHS.

“I’ve loved watching these kids grow and succeed in the events they have been competing in,” Madeline Steubing said. “Going to state is a great experience for them and I’m excited to see how they will do.”

There are over 32 different events you can compete in, and each team of students has been excelling in the specific events they participate in. One team even received a perfect score.

“The event India and I compete in is called illustrated talk, and our project is called super safety squad,” senior Katelyn Whitley said.

The teams that are attending state have been practicing non-stop on their presentations, and are hoping to do well at state. Hopefully all their hard work pays off.

“I’m beyond excited about going to state,” freshman Abigail Kohlleppel said. “Going to state gives us a chance to do Devine proud and make it all the was to nationals.”
