Warhorses Bi-District Champs

Wrapping up the season as Bi-District Champions, the Warhorse basketball team completed the 2014-15 season with an overall record of 20-12. The boys fell to West Oso in the second round of playoffs, losing 73-57 in Freer on Feb. 27.

“There were a lot of doubters this year; no one gave us a chance in our new district, but our kids were not afraid of the challenge,” assistant coach Evan Eads said. “They over achieved in district, won bi-district, and competed hard against a quality opponent in the area game.”

Despite the short playoff run, the boys had quite the journey throughout the entire season.

“I think we got better with every game,” senior Trevor Cook said. “Each game was a stepping stone to playoffs, and that made this season one to remember.”

By earning the Bi-District title, the boys ended on a note worth remembering.

“I wouldn’t have wanted to earn this title with any other group of guys,” senior Seth Levy said.

For four of the varsity players, this season will be the last one to remember. Cook and Levy, along with their fellow seniors Hunter Dubose and Austin Richardson, gave their all in the last game of their high school career.

“It’s so crazy to realize that it’s all over, but I like knowing I was able to practically grow up with my team,” Cook said. “These boys are my family and nothing will take that away, not even graduation.”
