Guzman to run at State Meet

Qualifying for state at the Regional meet Junior Josephine  Guzman represented Devine and placed first in the 800 meter run. 

“I’m extremely grateful to have made it this far,” Guzman said. “I’m also very grateful for all my peers, teachers, class mates and this wonderful community that have always cheered me on to finish whether the outcome be good or bad.”

The following track runners qualified for the Regional meet that was held on April 17 and 18 in Devine. These runners include: Warhorse seniors David Rangel, Wyatt Sheff, junior Joe Guerrero, freshman Dillon Ricord, juniors Gavin Been, Tristen Wood and freshman Tyler Carter.  The qualifying Arabians include: freshman Jenna Sadler, senior Alyssa Ornelas, sophomore Kara Stacey, freshman Caroline Anderson, junior Katelynn Riggs, senior DeeAnn Greehey, and junior Josephine Guzman.

“I was very proud of the kids competed in the Area meet. Most of the relays and individuals had their best performances of the year,” Coach Rene Muniz said. “Every time we have had positive results, our coaching staff as well as our kids are looking forward to all the competition ahead of us.”

Although this track season has come to an end for most of the athletes, one rises above the rest. Guzman will compete at the state track meet on May 9 and 10 in Round Rock.
