With a perfect 5-0 record for the first half of district, the Arabian volleyball team traveled to Hondo for the potential district championship game. The Arabians (5-0) and the Hondo Owls (4-1) faced off in an exciting game, in which the Arabians prevailed. Winning three sets to one.
“We knew that this game was probably going to clinch us the district title,” junior DeeAnn Greehey said. “Anytime we beat Hondo, it’s a great feeling. Now we just have to win the rest of our district games so we can be confident heading into playoffs.”
In the rest of district play, the first place Arabians beat Crystal City 3-1, Lytle 3-0, and Pearsall 3-0, leaving them at 9-0 and clinching them the 29-3A district championship. They traveled to Carrizo Springs for their last district contest Tuesday, scores weren’t available at press time.
“We were really excited at the start of district because of the chance we had to win district,” junior Alyssa Ornelas said. “That was really our motivation throughout district, and we worked every single day to get better and it all paid off. Now we’re excited and ready for playoffs.”
