Just Abby

Abigail Kohlleppel, Editor-in-Chief

I am still in disbelief that I have started my senior year. I am just so blessed with all of the opportunities I have had in my life so far and all of the experiences and life lessons I have gained.  I know not everyone is as lucky as I am to do everything I am able to do, and for that I am even more grateful.

For example, being Editor-in-Chief of this newspaper. I have always wanted to be one, but never in a million years thought I would have this amazing opportunity. The past six weeks have been busy, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

With each issue, I do think about the people who are going to read them, and I hope that they enjoy them as much as we enjoy getting to put them together. (Yes, it’s enjoyable even with the stress!)

My staff this year is just so awesome! Each one is so sweet and works hard. What more is there to ask for? There really just isn’t.

Along with that craziness, my family and I also moved my sister, Emily, into college before school started. And, to answer the question everyone has been asking, yes, it is different around the house, but it is okay because she is living her best life and that is all that matters.

Whenever she comes home and shares all of her stories, it makes me excited for next year when I get to experience the same things.

This summer, like most, I did apply to college. (Who knew it was such a long process?) I was accepted right before school started into the Schreiner University Class of 2023. I was worried I wasn’t going to get “that feeling” when visiting colleges this summer. And then, it happened.

We went on the tour, met the sweetest old ladies who worked at the book store, and even met the President of the University on our tour, which was super cool. When everyone you meet and talk to is so kind, you just know that it’s the place for you. Schreiner felt like home. It’s small, cute and country. Perfect for someone like me. Every time I think about it, I just get more and more excited.

If senior year has been this great so far, I just know the rest of the year is going to be fantastic. Here’s to hoping life is treating you just as well.
