New televisions cause excitement

Amid a sea of new students, teachers, procedures and equipment, there are a few new additions to the school that really stick out. The journalism department recently changed things up in the hallways by incorporating flat screen TV’s for announcements and pictures.

“I am hoping that these TV’s will serve as one more way to get information out to the students,” Principal Derrick Byrd said.

DHS students are very happy with this new development in the hallways.

“They are legit,” senior Seth Levy said. “It’s a cool way to show highlights.”

Most students enjoy the TV’s.

“It is a great way for students to see the events that are happening around the school,” sophomore Caroline Anderson said.

Kids stop to take a look at flat screens during the passing period.

“If I’m not in a rush, I often stop to look for pictures of my friends,” senior Catherine Duncan said.

Concerns of a crowded hallway are dispersed by administration.

“I’m not worried about traffic being slowed down in the hallways because that can easily be fixed,” Mr. Byrd said.

The teachers have even commented on how exciting these new TV’s are for the school.

“I really like them,” Coach Rene Muniz said. “It is good that we use them to get information out to the students and get them interested in what is going on in the school.”

There is a variety of information and pictures that run across the screen during the week. Juniors Kailee Ramirez and Jordan Zapata are responsible for maintaining the constant stream of feed.

“We update the information every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with new information, pictures, and current events,” Ramirez said.

Both girls enjoy working on the TVs and are excited to hear the positive comments the students and teachers have to offer.

“The stream features important announcements as well as pictures from current events,” Zapata said. “It’s a fun way to get the students involved.”
