To many, the underlying theme of the New Year is “fresh”; a fresh start and a new beginning. The New Year comes with many changes and this year the Devine High School Publications Department has gotten a fresh new start in the way it publishes its’ newspaper.
The Maroon Messenger has gone online and has taken on a new name; the DHS Express News. The DHS Express News is the premier online newspaper of the Devine High School Publications Department, it is taking high school journalism to a new level by allowing the newspaper to be available to everybody with an internet connection rather than just the community of Devine.
“I think it is really nice that the paper is now online,” senior Roxanne Hernandez said. “I like that I can read it from my iPhone and always be in-the-know.”
For the remainder of the school year, the Maroon Messenger will continue to be published and the stories found in the Maroon Messenger will be posted online at the DHS Express News website. Beginning next school year, the Maroon Messenger will no longer be a monthly publication, but rather the newspaper will be published three times during the year. Issues will include a back-to-school, spring and graduation issue.
Feel free to visit the new home of the Maroon Messenger, the DHS Express News anytime at DHSExpressNews.com The website will be updated weekly, with stories, photos and more.
