Ariana’s Playlist

Ariana Davalos, Contributing Journalist

The reason I chose this array of songs is because they are songs I constantly listen to on repeat when I need to find comfort. Personally, I listen to music to help me get through the day still having my sanity intact.  And school is of course very stressful therefore it is being labeled as a ‘school playlist’. They also just let me relax in general. A lot of the songs I chose I could probably sleep excluding a few of them of course. For example the songs by TV Girl, Car seat Headrest, and Starry Cat have very relaxing songs or at least I find them relaxing. I think the best top 5 relaxing songs in the playlist are:

  • Cigarettes out the window by TV Girl
  •  Last Train at 25 O’clock by Lamp
  • Homage by Mild High Club
  •  The Ending of Dramamine by Car Seat Headrest
  • Thanks by Starry Cat

The other songs I chose for my playlist, I guess some would consider it sad, but I really like sad music in general because I find them somewhat soothing. Some of these songs on the playlist are:

  • Last Words of a Shooting Star by Mitski
  • Twin Size Mattress by The Front Bottoms
  • Cancer by My Chemical Romance
  • Girl Anachronism by The Dresden Dolls

And then there isn’t really a last category to say, but it’s more of a group of songs that can cheer you up.  I figured that if you listen to music you like in general when you need something comforting it would help to listen to stuff you like cause just listening to sad music will tarnish your mood even more.

These songs are:

  • Classic J dies and Goes to Hell part 1 by Glass Beach
  • Card declined for Pizza & Wine by Steve Dinner
  • Good-Old Fashioned Lover Boy by Queen
  • Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High? By Arctic Monkeys

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this conjunction of songs I chose.
