Maroon Platoon fires up game days

September 17, 2014

Behind every game, there’s a DHS student section. Lead by seniors Trevor Cook, Seth Levy, and John Tilley, the Maroon Platoon is set out to cheer the teams to victory.

“I’m excited to come together as a school and support our teams for a good cause,” Cook said.

One of the many benefits of the student section is to show excitement at the games and pep up the crowd as well as the players.

“We’re going to be more involved and try to come up with ideas for every game so it stays interesting and not repetitive,” Cook said.

The students also come together for meetings, where they discuss new ideas, and give students the opportunity to voice their opinion.

“I’m most excited for the powder toss,” sophomore Jenna Sadler said.

This is one of the many new aspects of the student section where everyone throws powder at kickoff. The student section encourages everyone to come out and show school spirit.

“I’m hoping a lot of people will come out and support all the teams,” Sadler said.
