Students reboot Youth Alive

September 7, 2014

Youth Alive is back, and it’s a great way to start the year off on the right foot.  Anyone is welcome to join, and the student leaders have much in store for an amazing year.

“I’m looking forward to ministering to all students in the club,” sophomore Emily Breiten said.

This unique club is student lead, and faith-based.

“Last year not many people got involved and this year I’m hoping we have the numbers to do amazing things,” senior Catherine Duncan said.

An event that the students of DHS are most familiar with is See You at the Pole, which is part of the Youth Alive club. This event takes place on Sept. 24, by the flagpole in the morning.

“I’m hoping to make an impact to give the students the courage to say ‘this is what I believe in’ and that it will last when we leave, “ Duncan said.

This club gives students the opportunity to express their belief, in a Christian environment.  When the seniors do graduate, Youth Alive leaders encourage that the students involved will stay committed and keep the club going.

“What we’ve been doing will stay the same, but it will be different with the seniors gone, and new students this year,” senior Gavin Been said.

The students who were involved last year are now taking the place of the previous leaders and looking forward to passing on the importance of the club.

“I’m hoping that Youth Alive will help the students grow stronger in their faith,” Been said.
