Hello, I’m Bryan Martinez. 

I’m here to talk to you about the OKC and San Antonio Spurs battling for first place in the West. The San Antonio Spurs have a record of 41 and 16 and are currently third in the league for best record overall, only behind OKC with a record of 45 and 14 and the Detroit Pistons with 42 and 14. However, the Spurs and the Thunder have had a five-game series this year. Spurs lead four games to one. 

The Spurs and Thunder are projected to have a high-stakes matchup for the semi-finals for a chance to go to the finals later on in the season. 

However, there’s a big rivalry going on between San Antonio Spurs star player Victor Omanyama and Oklahoma City Thunder’s post Chet Holmgren. Their rivalry started around two years ago in 2023 when Cet Homerren called out Victor Oyama, saying he’s not the best post in the league. Victor Wembanyama shut down that comment very quickly on social media and in the game by blocking Chet Holmgren roughly around 20 times and scoring over 200 points on Chet Holmgren. Holmgren, since then, has been quiet and hasn’t said anything about Victor Wembanyama. 

The current frontrunner for MVP is Shay Good Alexander, the Thunder’s guard. He was last year’s MVP, but Victor Wembanyama is not far behind him. They’re only around 200 points in the differential, which can easily be made up by Victor Mñama. 

The Spurs are surprising many experts by being good this early in the season. They were supposed to have been this good roughly around five more years from now, but they’ve had very good draft classes these past two years. 

In 2023, they got Victor Wembanyama. In 2024, they got Stefon Castle, and in 2025, they got Dylan Harper and Carter Bryant. Those four new players alone are the leading scorers on the team. They have proven themselves early, which is helping the Spurs with their success this early on.
