District golf champs

On Monday, April 2, the golf team teed off to a great start. The Arabians and Warhorses took home the District Championship, and will be advancing to regionals.

“I am beyond excited and thrilled for what the ladies accomplished.” Coach Jerel Beaty said. “Their goal was to bring home the plaque, and the did it in a grand fashion winning by over 100 strokes.”

Kayla Busby took home first place individually, scoring the best score she has gotten this season. She scored an 88 on Monday and an 85 on Tuesday.

“Being first was a big accomplishment.” junior Kayla Busby said. “With having one more year I know I have some flaws I can improve my lowest score even more.”

For the warhorse golf team Carson Tilley took home first individually. He scored a 72 on Mon., and a 68 on Tues.

“It felt great getting the individual win, but even better to get the team win. I couldn’t have done it with out my family, coaches, and teammates.” Tilley said.

The Arabians and Warhorses will be going to the regional meet in Corpus Christi on the April 23.

“It feels great having two gold medals.” Tilley said. “Now it’s time to go get two more at regionals.”
