Golf ends after rainy regionals

May 22, 2015

No matter what the weather brings, the boys and girls of this year’s golf teams were dedicated but this season has come to an end. The varsity girl’s team and senior John Tilley advanced to regionals in Corpus Christi, April 6-7. What was meant to be a two-day tournament was turned into a one-day tournament due to bad weather.

“After the first day I put myself in a good position to advance by being one stroke out but then the rain came, giving me no chance to advance,” senior John Tilley said. “I’m going to use that sour ending to my high school career as a way to strengthen my game in the future.”

The varsity girls advanced from district taking second place, but ended their season in thirteenth  place for regionals.

“Overall the season went great, we kept practicing and improving our swings,” senior Megan Coleman said. “Practicing everyday on the field paid off.”

John Tilley received 5th overall for regionals, but the rain didn’t give Tilley or the girls a chance to better their position for the end of the season.

“I didn’t like the fact that this is my senior year and because of the rain my team members and I didn’t get a second day but I am still grateful for the opportunity,” Coleman said.
