Warhorse basketball team sweeps in home tournament

January 6, 2015

Kicking off the season with a great start, the Horses are showing a lot of excitement. The team is 9-2 so far and looks forward to a long playoff run this season.

“We have had way more games than practices up to this point,” coach Jerel Beaty said. “Once we get more practice time, our level of play will increase.”

By practicing hard, the team has been able to improve through the season.

“We are playing some pretty competitive teams to get us ready for district play,” senior Seth Levy said.

The team competed well but lost to Natalia and St. Mary’s Hall.

“They were a really good team, but I think we got a lot better from the game,” senior Trevor Cook said, “This game was a good test to get us ready for the upcoming season.”

Finishing 4-0, the Warhorse got first in the Devine tournament.

“I think we got a lot better during the tournament,” Cook said. “It was exciting to play in front of the whole school.”

They play this Friday, Dec. 19, against the Marion Bulldogs at the AT&T Center at 2:30 P.M.

“Our team motto is ‘State or Bust’,” junior Reagan Anderson said,”We won’t take anything less than state.”
