Freshmen Step It Up

September 4, 2014

On Aug. 8 most Devine athletes found themselves waking at 7 am for Arabian Volleyball tryouts for the 2014 season. For freshmen Addie Trojanowski, Chesney Friesenhahn and Makenna Morales this tryout turned out a little differently than expected.

“I was very excited during 2-a-days,” Friesenhahn said. “I really pushed myself to work harder. I’m happy to work with such a great group of girls that are on the JV team.”

Working with a new team can be scary, especially at a new school with kids you don’t necessarily know yet.

“Working with these girls is definitely different and a new experience but it makes me work a lot harder,” Morales said.

Trojanowski was moved up for the Jourdanton Varsity tournament and has split time between both teams.

“Seeing them push each other to get better makes me want to push myself like they do,” Trojanowski said. “It’s exciting and fun to be with new people. I have made new friends and will continue to do so throughout the season.”

As for the rest of the season, the girls were all smiles and confidence.

“I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season, it will be a new adventure for us all,” Friesenhahn said.
