Warhorse, Arabian basketball teams compete in AT&T Center
Competing on the same court as the famous San Antonio Spurs isn’t something high school basketball teams get to do very often, but the varsity Warhorse and Arabian teams did just that on Dec. 31. The varsity cheerleaders cheered them on as they faced the Falls City Beavers in none other than the AT&T Center.
“It was a great experience,” junior Jodee Wofford said. “We definitely need to get used to playing in a bigger gym.”
The change in scenery proved hard to become accustomed to, and the Arabians faced a tough loss against the Beavers.
“The atmosphere was different and it took awhile to get acclimated to the arena,” junior Alyssa Schmidt said.
On the other hand, the Warhorses had no issue adapting to the Spurs’ territory and came out with a victory against Falls City.
“I feel we did well, considering that we aren’t used to playing on courts like that,” senior Eric Trogden said.
Following the basketball games, the teams, along with the cheerleaders, supported the San Antonio Spurs as they played the Brooklyn Nets.
“It was sweet watching the Spurs game with the team, and it made us that much closer,” Trogden said.
District basketball is now in play for the Warhorses and Arabians.
