This past weekend a few of the Devine Track team members had the opportunity to run at the regional meet in Kingsville. There were a total of 5 girls and 4 boys that qualified.

On the girls side it was DeeAnn Greehey, Ashtyn Dougherty, Kara Stacey, Alyssa Ornelas, and Josephine Guzman who competed. In the 800-meter relay, DeeAnn, Bekah, Kara, and Ashtyn made it to finals and placed 8th overall.  Ashtyn then ran the 300 hurdles and placed 3rd.  Josephine placed 5th in the 800-meter run, and Alyssa placed 8th in the 100-meter hurdles.

For the guys the qualifiers were Dillon Wofford, Joe Guerrero, Joseph Espinosa, and Jose Cantrell. Dillon competed in long jump and high jump but unfortunately did not place. Joe competed in the 200 but unfortunately did not place as well. Joseph placed 3rd in the mile, and Jose placed 3rd in the 100, 200, 400-meter runs.

“This was an amazing season and our team accomplished a lot, while personally breaking three school records our team brought home the District championship and also placed third at area.” Jose Cantrell said. “This year was really the year I went out and left it all on the track and I couldn’t have asked for a better year with a better team.”
