Pros and cons of taking risks

January 6, 2015

Risk-taking can be scary but also very rewarding. If one doesn’t take risks, the best thing that has ever come their way could pass by. The sad thing is, it would pass by without the slightest inclination that it was attainable. The world is full of amazing things and places, but staying in a personal comfort zone those wonderful experiences won’t happen.

It’s easy to say “hard to do” when it comes to stepping out from beneath the comforting cloak of what is normal and ordinary. But, by taking that step, the world becomes a much more exciting and inviting place to live in. This step can also bring an intense joy that may have been lacking before. It’s like the sun poking through the clouds on a nasty winter day; the sun can be so rewarding, kind of like the risks life presents.

There will definitely be some risks that lead to trouble or heartache, but those are the ones to learn from. Those risks are a reminder to listen and watch for what is best for the heart. By taking risks, the world becomes an exciting place to interact in, full of new understandings and happy moments. Without risk there is no reward, just like without dark there is no light.

Taking risks are part of the ever-changing world around us. Risks are often associated with failure, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Every failure in life means success is one step closer.  Risks often are thought of as the glass being half empty, but it’s just as easy to say that the glass is half full, right? It all comes down to the same amount of liquid, but the mind-set each view requires is completely different. Having the mind-set that the glass is half full will lead to more success in life.

Positive attitudes are often the key to happiness and fulfilling life goals and dreams. Taking risks is how to reach these lofty goals and dreams. Risks take bravery and determination; it’s not easy, but it’s very rewarding. Starting with a positive attitude will help tremendously. Remembering to look for the light after the dark or the calm after the storm allows the risks to become another part of the wonderful climb to success and happiness.
