Tyler Robinson has been charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury and obstruction of justice, among other charges for the alleged assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Utah County Attorney Jeff Grey issued the “aggravating” charges this afternoon, and is reportedly seeking the death penalty. Grey brought attention to Robinson’s threat to attendees, especially children, at Kirk’s speaking event at Utah Valley College.
Robinson, who is now in custody in the Utah County Jail without bail, recently gave a press conference. Robinson read a 10-page indictment, periodically answering questions.
While Robinson’s direct motives remain unclear, investigators believe political beliefs and conflicting ideologies were significant possibilities, especially between Robinson and his family.
University surveillance footage during the events and messages between Robinson and his roommate were addressed.
Grey stated in court that Robinson will make his first court appearance virtually before a judge in the Utah Fourth District Court this afternoon.
