New Grading Policy
A new grading policy was introduced at the start of the second semester. Grades were to be locked and finalized at the end of the first three weeks. This means that students could not turn in work from the first three weeks after progress reports were released. Essentially, students now have two report cards in one six-weeks.
Construction
District-wide construction began during Spring Break! Following the 2023 Bond election, construction projects began and are expected to be completed by August 2026. Around campus, students steered clear from the construction site in the multipurpose room and gym.
Stairs Were Demolished
In addition, the stairs were finally demolished and should be rebuilt by 2026. This comes almost three years after their initial demolition.
Changing Traffic Patterns
As a result of the construction, traffic patterns were changed, affecting the elementary and high school. The first two weeks following Spring Break became a challenge for student parking. Thankfully, traffic improved as announcements were made to both students and parents. The new traffic patterns are expected to continue into the next school year.
New Warhorse Principal
Later in the year, Blain Martin stepped in as the Devine High School Principal following former Principal Juan Gonzalez’s departure. His departure came after a well-attended school board meeting.
