On Wednesday April 30th, the Warhorse Robotics Team traveled to Corpus Christi for an off-season competitive event at Buc Days. On Thursday and Friday, the Warhorse Robotics competed alongside 14 other team, advancing to the quarterfinals. They played in a “lottery puck” with 3 teams against 3, and played 16 of the 40 matches. In the semifinals, Warhorse Robotics was selected by the #2 Alliance Captain Robonauts EveryBot 10118 and the Robo Raiders 3561 where they played 3 matches and advanced to finals against the Varsity team Robonauts 118. The Warhorse Robotics won best 2 out of 3, taking the win for the alliance. They won both an $1000 cash prize for being members of the winning alliance, and a $550 Spirit Award prize.
“We also got the Sprit Award, but it was just Curtis [Kuykendall]. He was really helpful because he not only cheered for us, but he cheered for the other teams, so it was pretty fun,” senior Felix Mendoza said.
