On Wednesday April 30th, the Warhorse Robotics Team traveled to Corpus Christi for an off-season competitive event at Buc Days.
On Thursday and Friday, the Warhorse Robotics competed alongside 14 other team, advancing to the quarterfinals. They played in a “lottery puck” with 3 teams against 3, and played 16 of the 40 matches. In the semifinals, Warhorse Robotics was selected by the #2 Alliance Captain Robonauts EveryBot 10118 and the Robo Raiders 3561 where they played 3 matches and advanced to finals against the Varsity team Robonauts 118.
The Warhorse Robotics won best 2 out of 3, taking the win for the alliance. They won both an $1000 cash prize for being members of the winning alliance, and a $550 Spirit Award prize.
“We also got the Sprit Award, but it was just Curtis [Kuykendall]. He was really helpful because he not only cheered for us, but he cheered for the other teams, so it was pretty fun,” senior Felix Mendoza said.
This year’s Warhorse Robotics Team Members are:
Seniors: Eli James, Felix Mendoza, Roy Vanderslice, and Tate Wisenbaker
Juniors: Jacelyn Delaney, Gwyn Deleon, Curtis Kuykendall, and Zack Martinez
