This year’s DHS homecoming pep rally marked the return of the bonfire, the first in 11 years.

“For a reason, I’m not sure of, we quit lighting a real bonfire about 11 years ago,” assistant principal Anderson said. “Since then, we have been lighting our DHS letters on fire or having the occasional blackout rally.”

A large community turnout was on hand anticipating the lighting of the bonfire. Devine alumni, high school students, and young children alike cheered as the Devine Mighty Warhorse Band and varsity cheerleaders performed. The Devine Volunteer Fire Department was on hand to stop sparks from the bonfire from spreading.
