Christmas is right around the corner, and that means everyone has been making their lists for what gifts they might want. Some kids might hope for a toy, adults maybe want cash—but this weekend, all the wrestlers at the Hybrid School of Wrestling want to do is beat each other up. So This Is Christmas takes place on December 20, and the matches are expected to be a treat for fans. As your local wrestling reporter, I’m here to preview the action before the show.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas without a battle of Kris vs. Chris. “Numero Uno” Kris Barton will go up against Chris Marval, a member of the Texas Treats. This match promises a nice treat for Kris-mas… or Chris-mas. One thing is certain: only one Kris or Chris will come out on top.
Speaking of the Texas Treats, the rest of the team has a match as well. Diego Renay, Don Juan, and newly aligned member K-Jax will take on Living in Fashion — Zakai Living and Devin Carter — along with their tag partner Hitt. The Treats always seem to have a trick, or five, up their sleeve. It’s anyone’s guess who might come out on top as both teams are ready for action.
If all you wanted for Christmas was tag team warfare, then that’s exactly what you’ll get next: a nine-man tag team match. Three teams will battle it out in the ring to see who comes out on top. It’s the Galvans — Josh, Chaoss, and Ben Jr. — against the Texas Kingdom and Dead Man’s Hand with Chase Owens. With Rob Love being a bit of a Grinch lately, who knows how this may turn out for the Kingdom—or for everyone else in the match.
Next, we have another match with teams seeking vengeance. Zorro De Jalisco and Animo, Sin Limite, are set to face Ryloh King and Armani Sage, the Pretty Badass Riot Party, for the Hybrid Tag Team Championships. Sin Limite brings high-flying lucha moves to the ring, but will they be able to out-glamor the Riot Party and take the championships? We’ll have to wait and see.
Moving to singles action, let’s highlight the women’s match on the card. The “Sensational Savage,” Ridley Thorne, will face “La Chica Mas Picosa,” Kalientita. These two have no love lost for each other, and all they want for Christmas is to beat each other up. We’ll see which former chola comes out on top.
The singles action continues with Dyl Dempsey taking on Epidemius Jr. Both competitors are champions or former champions in different promotions, each with a slight advantage in certain areas. This showdown promises to be a banger.
The final match of the night is for the Hybrid Championship. The “Modern Day Backbreaker,” Casey Blackrose, will defend his title against Jae Young. This match is expected to be one for the ages. After Casey kicked Jae out of Dead Man’s Hand, Jae is angry and ready to take the championship and prove why he is “like that.” Will he succeed, or will Casey distract Jae and cause him to lose?
