Band Prepares for Auditions

Preparing for next school year, the Warhorse Band is gung-ho for upcoming auditions and the last of this year’s performances. 

“This year Auditions & Evaluations will begin Monday April 25th beginning with leadership,” Head director Jeff Miller said. “ Drumline and Color Guard will begin 5 days of intensive work and evaluations on Tuesday, April 26.”

At the time of publishing, all Drumline positions have been selected after a week long clinic. The lines new addition, Freshman Oakley Malone, echoes her peers excitement.  

“I’ve always loved the atmosphere drumline brings, it’s always been fun watching but now actually getting to learn and build new relationships is even better,” Malone said. “To me this year’s music show is much more exciting than last year, it’s a good piece and I think we will go quite far with it.”

In between audition practices, members are also working with next year’s show music. Titled “Angels & Demons”, the show depicts a battle of good and evil using ongoing victorious themes and hymns such as “Salvation is Created”. 

“Each of our two concert bands at DHS, as well as our Varsity DMS Band, mostly 8th graders, are currently learning the music., ” Miller said. “The show is in 4 seamless movements with plenty of challenges so it is nice to get a head start on the technical aspect of those. There are solos, visual effects, etc which will offer an amazing show!

The band hall is buzzing with the excitement of a promising season.

“One of the greatest things about next year will be the strength of our Band,” Miller said. “We will have an experienced and highly skilled Leadership dominated by an awesome upcoming senior class!  It is going to be great!”
