Science Club

Science club is planning to get more involved with the community and more active in bettering the environment. They have meetings every week, where they do fun experiments, brainstorm about new potential ideas for the club, and plan out upcoming events.

“We meet every Wednesday as a club in Mrs. Fitches class room,” junior Brady Harrell said. “I like going to the meetings because we do fun experiments in the lab.”
During some of the meetings the students do a fun and interactive lab. In some of the previous meetings the students conducted an ooblek lab and a DNA lab.

“Ooblek is like a weird substance made of cornstarch and water,” senior Caimee Fowler said. “The nature of the substance is cool because when you punch the liquid fast it acts as a solid, but if you punch it slowly it acts as a liquid.

The science club has 15 members. This is also one of the bigger group of students Devine has had in the science club. The meetings always have a good turn out.

“Our meetings consist of lots of discussion over what events we want to do in the future,” junior Alissa Stehle said. “We have recently been talking about going on a field trip to the Frio River.”

They plan to go to the river to do a trash pick up. The field trip to the river does not have a set date, but it should be happening some time in the near future.

“We have been talking about the river trip in our for a while now,” Mrs. Rebecca Fitch said. “As a club we want to do something fun while helping out the environment.”

While they are in Concan they plan to bring back samples from the natural supply of water, plants and limestone in the river.

“We want to test the samples we find in the lab,” Fowler said. “I’m really excited to go on this trip.”
