Germany to Texas

Some dream about wanting to travel to another country, but for Ronja Rang she made it a reality. Rang traveled from her hometown of Gierstädt, Germany to Devine, Texas with the study abroad program.

“I wanted to join the program to experience something new, Germany was so boring and I wanted to come here and show Americans that Germans aren’t always mad and mean,” Rang said. “I want everyone to see me being happy and positive.”

Rang was really busy when she was in Germany. She is involved in Artistic Gymnastics and also trained younger kids in gymnastics. In her free time she would be with her friends or family, especially in the weeks leading up to her leaving.

“I really enjoy Artistic Gymnastics and the fact that I get to train younger kids to do what I love makes me happy,” Rang said.

People may question why someone would want to move across the country and live with complete strangers but Rang has no problem with being away from her friends and family since she plans on keeping them up to date on how she doing through her blog.

“I mean it’s weird being away from everyone but I know I’m going see them in 10 months,” Rang said. “Texas being so great helps too.”

Rang is staying here with her host parents Amber and Brandon Stricker. Although it isn’t her home, she still has to help her host parents around the house by cleaning her room, helping in the kitchen and doing her laundry. Rang also talked about loving our food.

“I love Texas so much,” Rang said “Your food isn’t healthy but it is very good.”
