All the excitement in FCCLA this year has yet to come. The year has been filled with projects and events and will finish with a trip to the nation’s capital.
“I’m really pleased and excited for them,” Mrs. Jackson said. “It’s an honor to represent Texas and be in the nation’s capital with everything to do and see.”
Senior Elida Mainez and junior Katelyn Whitley started their project in October with tryouts and have visited the elementary and middle schools to prepare and develop their presentation.
“FCCLA has taught me how to be a leader and friendly towards others no matter who they are,” Mainez said. “It has also made me look at a teaching career.”
As president and vice-president of public relations for FCCLA, juniors Vanessa Hernandez and Rudy Rios also get to go to Nationals.
“We meet a lot of people and we set up workshops for about nine schools and then talk to about 2,000 people,” Hernandez said.
Nationals will be in Washington D.C, July 3-9.
“I’m looking forward to getting to tour the city and be able to compete at such a high level,” Whitley said.
