Young and running

A younger cross country team would seem to be a challenging with only two seniors leading them this season but not for our Warhorse and Arabian team.

“I feel like I have to set and example and make them work harder,” senior Erica Hewtty said.

The cross country team this year seems to be made up of more underclassmen than upperclassmen but they seem to be making things workout in their favor at times.

“I like cross country; the workouts are hard but it makes the hard meets easier,” freshman Donovan Camacho said.

Going into the season it would seem hard to have such inexperienced runners compete with more experience athletes that have ran longer.

“I tried to instill great confidence in my athletes throughout the season by recording times an showing progress along with constant encouragement,” Head Coach Khera Vay said.

Everyone on the team feels Coach Vay encourages them to do their best regardless of the team being young.

“For good luck, Coach always prepares encouraging letters before our meets,” sophomore Kiana Monreal said.
