Warhorse baseball players fought until the very end of the season. Although they played against a tough district, they still gave it their all.
“Our greatest accomplishment was winning first place at the Devine Tournament,” sophomore Jack Zimmerle said.
Senior Alec Ovalle, and sophomores Dillon Ricord and Jack Zimmerle were named all tournament selections. Junior Isac Ovalle was the MVP of the tournament.
“We started out with a bang, defeating everyone before district,” senior Tristan English said.
The Warhorses had a great start to the season. By defeating San Antonio Christian Academy, Dilley, and Jourdanton they earned a place in the tournament championship where they then defeated Marion.
“Playing with the seniors was a great experience, and I wish them the best of luck in their futures,” Zimmerle said.
The team strived for a successful season and wanted to make it memorable for the seniors.
“I’ll miss how loud we would get in the dugouts. Even if we were down, we never gave up,” sophomore Beau Cardenas said.
They ended the season with a 2-8 district record beating the Lytle Pirates twice.
“The season didn’t turn out the way we hoped, but I had a great time playing with all my teammates,” English said.
