Arabian Softball players finished their softball season as Regional Quarterfinalists. The Arabians played Sat. May 16 against the Orange Grove Lady Bulldogs, losing their final game of the series and season.

“ I think we played the best that we could,” sophomore Jenna Sadler said. “I’m sad that’s its over, but I know we only grew stronger and more experienced as a team.”

On May 9, the Arabians earned the name of Area champs when they beat the Sinton Lady Pirates 2-1 in a series.

“We played really well against Sinton,” sophomore Tori Martin said. “Especially when the energy goes up at the plate and in the dugout.”

The Arabians finished 5-5 in district earning them a fourth seed spot in the playoffs; however, they were the only team in their distict to advance to Area.

“District was interesting this year,” sophomore Brooklyn Anderson said. “We came up short in the first round but looked like a different team in the second.”

In order to advance to area, the team had to first beat the #2 Pleasanton Eagles. The Arabians came out with a win, beating the Eagles 3-2.

“Beating Pleasanton was a great accomplishment because we weren’t expected to win,” sophomore Amanda Wilson said. “I enjoyed proving many people wrong.”

With many challenges of being a young team, the Arabians won the games that counted the most.

“After every game and practice we learned and came closer as a team,” Anderson said.  “And I think our improvements we made reflect how we started playing better and winning more as the season progressed.”
