Ready to run
Track athletes prepare for upcoming season
March 4, 2015
Track athletes put in the extra effort it takes to reach success. With the season starting up, runners and competitors strive for personal goals and give nothing but their best effort in order to achieve it.
“My goal this year is to run a 21.9 in the 200 meter dash,” sophomore Tyler Carter said.
Reaching a certain goal requires these runners to push their limits and keep a positive mindset.
“Eating healthy as well as putting in hard work at the track and in the weight room will contribute to our success this year,” Carter said.
For most competitors, past experience will give them the confidence they need to reach a certain standard.
“Last year we made it to regionals, and this year we’re striving for state,” Carter said.
The previous track season was also a reminder of the effort it takes, and for some competitors, a closer look at what high school track is all about.
“Because I was a freshman last year, I didn’t know what to expect, but now I know what’s coming and what I’m competing against,” sophomore Victoria Martin said.
Competitors prepare for their next upcoming meet on Thursday, March. 5 in Pleasanton.
“I expect a successful returning year,” Martin said.
