Warhorses open district season

January 23, 2015

Coming back from an unfortunate game cancelation last Friday, Jan. 9, the Warhorses made a great start in last night’s game against a victory with a score of 63-57.

“It was a great win last night,” senior Hunter DuBose said. “We feel like we are running into district with our last couple of wins.”

The Warhorses will be playing in their district opener against the Hondo Owls this Friday Jan. 15. It’s been awhile since the Warhorses have defeated the Owls and this year they plan on working hard in order to win.

“This is probably the biggest rivalry in the area,” senior Seth Levy said. “Our Team is pumped to take the victory for our first district game.”

For the entire season the Warhorses have been working toward taking home as many titles as possible. For a team of boys, working together is very important in order to defeat their opponents.

“The team is really starting to come together at the perfect time because district is right around the corner,” senior Trevor Cook said.

The Warhorses did exactly what they wanted to do defeating the Owls 61-39. Starting the district with a win puts them in a good position for the rest of the season.

“It feels great to beat Hondo to star the district,” Cook said. “It builds up our confidence for the rest of the district.”

Hard work and dedication are a few things that go through the boys mind while playing the game.

“I believe the season will go great because we really came together as a team last Friday and I feel that if we keep playing the way we did then we will have a great season,” DuBose said.
