Sophomores tackle Friday Night Lights

September 17, 2014

The 2014 varsity football team is ready to take the field and represent Devine this season with new personnel. Sophomores Corben Boggs, Dillon Ricord and Jack Zimmerle are among some of the new faces taking the field.

“It’s an honor to be up here,” Zimmerle said. “It’s exciting to know that all mine and my brothers’ hard work paid off.”

Being a varsity member comes with big responsibilities, but these boys are stepping up to the challenge.

“Being the quarterback means it is my responsibility for mine and everyone else’s mistakes,” Ricord said. “It is my job to get everyone in the right position every play and make sure they know what we are doing.”

These boys now get a firsthand look at how the upperclassmen lead the team.

“I’ve learned to do your best every play and fight for the person beside you,” Boggs said. “Never giving up on your team, your brothers; it’s the most important thing.”

The team is ready to tackle the Friday night lights this season.

“It’s amazing out there,” Ricord said. “We have become brothers playing one of the greatest games.”
