The Warhorse baseball team has been hot and cold during their district games. During the second round of district, they lost to Crystal City 10-5, beat Pearsall 9-1, lost to Lytle 11-10, and beat Carrizo 9-1.
“This season has been like a roller coaster,” Senior Justin Hernandez said. “We’ve won in big games against the top teams in the district, but we’ve lost to the teams at the bottom. We just can’t seem to get on a hot streak.”
With a 5-4 record, the Warhorses hosted the Hondo Owls in what was the biggest game of their season. With a win, they were guaranteed 2nd place and a trip to the playoffs. But with a loss, would leave them in 4th place, which would’ve been the end of their season. With their season on the line, the Warhorses fell short against the Hondo Owls 12-8.
“Even though our season didn’t go as it probably should’ve, it was a lot of fun playing with all of these guys,” Senior Justin Salcedo said. “We were really young this year, but we didn’t really show our potential all season long. Next year, hopefully the guys can put it all together.”
